Stewart

I retained Larkin Tree Care in the summer of 2025. The objectives was the removal of 33 mature trees that abutted a main carriageway. The trees were very large, many exceeding 100 feet in height. That was also complicated by a retaining wall that resulted in roots only growing in one direction that increased the risk of fall towards properties.

The matter was further complicated by some of the trees overhanging an abutting neighbour and electricity cables at the side of the road. All of these factors were identified and the subject of careful pre-commencement assessments. Crane assistance was essential and the reasoning was explained clearly and professionally.

The liaison with the adjoining neighbour and the statutory agencies was excellent through out. The local planning authority was kept fully informed and all necessary applications were processed in a timely fashion. Site safety was paramount, and the family was clear on requirements for the safe access to the family home. The work was undertaken efficiently and with great professionalism.

Since we moved into our home in 2023, we had been having issues with branch drop from our neighbours large Monterey Cypress tree on our boundary. We were concerned that if the tree fell it would land in the middle of our house. After discussions with our neighbour, it was agreed that he would remove the trees on the boundary along with the tree directly affecting our property. He engaged the services of Larkin Tree Care, a local professional tree surgeon.

Guy contacted us to discuss and plan the works well in advance of the works commencing. Due to the tree’s size, proximity to boundary, and potential risk to nearby structures, the removal was conducted in a controlled and staged manner. The removal process included:

• Sectional dismantling of the tree from the top down
• Use of a crane to safely lift and lower large limbs and trunk sections
• Careful management to prevent damage to neighbouring property, fencing, and surrounding structures
• Removal of all debris from site upon completion
• The crane-assisted removal method was selected to ensure safety, minimise risk, and prevent uncontrolled falling of large sections due to the tree’s height and spread.
• The works were completed on 25th July 2025 and were conducted in a safe and professional manner and my property was left clean and tidy.
